Pultrusion
Pultrusion is an automated manufacturing process for the continuous production of Fibre Reinforced Profiles with a constant cross section,
During this process the materials as fiberglass rovings and glass matts are beeing pulled into an impregnation bath which contains resin (such as polyester, polyurethane, vinylesther and expoy). Once the raw fibre has been impregnated with the liquid resin it’s pulled further into al forming and heating die, where it is giving it’s final shape, using a continuous pulling device. Finally the profiles will be pulled through a cut off saw, which cuts the finised profiles to the desired lengths. Below you can see a drawing of this process
The Advantages
The demand for pultruded profiles has rapidly increased the last years and this will continue the coming years for good reasons, which are
ability to withstand highly aggressive chemicals
Light
1/4 the weight of steel
Sustainable
Has the lowest Co2 consumption in lifecycle compared to wood, steel & concrete
Designable
can be designed in any possible shape
Non magnetic
not attracted by a magnet
Low maintenance
easy to assemble and minimal maintenance is needed
Strong
Can be stronger than steel
Fire resistant
using the required resins, results in fire resistance products
Durable
Composites are much more durable then traditional materials, since it will not rust or rot
Weather & Corrosion resistance
Non corrosive and resistant to all weather conditions
